New Mighty Millions 50/50 Lottery to improve pediatric mental health services inside Stollery Emergency
EDMONTON — The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation officially launched its latest Mighty lottery offering on May 1: a monthly 50/50 to benefit Stollery kids and teens from backyards across Alberta.
Net proceeds from Mighty Millions 50/50 Lottery are projected at over $250,000 and will help to fund urgent pediatric mental health services inside the Stollery Emergency department.
“The Stollery Emergency responds to as many as 2,300 child and youth mental health concerns a year,” says Mike House, president and CEO of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This urgent funding priority will deliver round-the-clock, expert pediatric mental health services in the moment of crisis, including specialized bedside support for kids and adolescents who present with serious mental health concerns.”
Unique to northern Alberta, the Stollery Emergency will have highly trained child psychiatrists, therapists, nurses and social workers working alongside emergency physicians and clinical support staff. This specialized care team will provide mental health examinations and risk assessments including working directly with patients and their families after a suicide attempt.
Tickets for this month’s Mighty Millions 50/50 are $10 each, 5-for-$25, 20-for-$50 and 100-for-$100. The minimum prize payout is $200,000. With strong province-wide support, total ticket sales could top $1 million.
