In addition to fundraising, another mission of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is to make children’s health a priority in Alberta. We’re doing this by bringing the voices of patients and families, volunteers and donors to our government and health care partners and reminding them that kids can’t wait…
Our goal to build a new, purpose-built Stollery Children’s Hospital designed with kids and families in mind got closer to reality in 2021 with the launch of our Tomorrow & Today campaign. The campaign gives Albertans a platform to lend their voice to the call for a new Stollery and is uniting communities across Alberta in finding solutions to better serve kids and teens from northern Alberta and across Western Canada.
It’s time that Stollery kids have a facility that matches the world-class talent of our Stollery teams.
No space - the need for a new Stollery
We asked for your support, and you came through in a big way!
More than 8,000 Stollery supporters joined our growing call for a new Stollery Children’s Hospital. Thank you for helping us remind provincial leaders that the Stollery is the only children’s hospital in Canada that is woven into an adult hospital. Because of you, we’re closer to a new Stollery than ever before!
In March 2023, the Government of Alberta announced $3 million in the provincial budget over the next three years to start the planning process for a purpose-built children’s hospital in Edmonton with Foundation donors matching this amount.
But there’s more work to be done before shovels hit the ground. While we push for a new hospital, we recognize that a new facility is years away and donor dollars are critical today so that the Stollery can continue to offer the best programs, equipment, research and training for this generation of kids and youth. Continued community engagement and donor support means the Hospital can provide some of the best physical and mental health care anywhere in the world. Some recent examples of this are expanded mental health services at the Stollery and out in the communities, as well as a current campaign to create a best-in-class virtual care centre at the Stollery to bring care closer to home.
