At our 2022 Tee Up For Tots golf invitational, donors generously raised $105,000 to support the purchase of much-needed, specialized equipment for the pediatric autonomic laboratory. The laboratory needs this equipment to diagnose unique disorders in kids so they can get treated as soon as possible. With this equipment available, the wait list for specialized testing is reduced and kids can get access to a treatment plan that much faster.
The autonomic nervous system controls important bodily functions that we don’t think about — sweating when we’re hot, our heart rate when we exercise and even carrying information to our brain about pain and temperature. Disorders of the autonomic nervous system are often known as “invisible” illnesses because individuals can appear healthy but have numerous debilitating symptoms related to those unseen functions.
