Meet Karen
Karen is a senior program manager at the Stollery Children’s Hospital where she leads the vision for the Stollery Centre for Excellence in Virtual Health.
Karen has been a senior program manager at the Stollery Children’s Hospital since spring 2024. She is responsible for turning the vision for the Stollery Centre for Excellence in Virtual Health into a reality.
In her spare time, Karen loves to garden and can be found biking around the community looking for perennials to adopt during the warmer months!
Let’s get to know Karen a bit better:
What do you like most about your job?
I value relationships and understanding a person’s story. Being introduced to and learning about the many programs, the clinical specialties and the teams is very rewarding and fills my bucket!
Have donor funds directly impacted the area you work in?
Yes! Currently the Stollery Centre for Excellence is fully funded by the Foundation. We’re grateful to have donor support as we lead the innovation and integration of appropriate, safe and patient-centered virtual care along the patient journey for Stollery families.
Do you have a standout Stollery memory?
When I meet with people in my role, we focus on the opportunities and impacts that virtual care modalities can have. Eyes and voices begin to lighten when we talk about how a self-driving video conferencing robot or how a digital remote patient monitor could help support and enhance patient care, collaboration and communication.
What is your favourite kids’ book?
How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer
