Meet Curtis

Dr. Curtis Budden has been a pediatric plastic surgeon at the Stollery since 2020. He treats various congenital and trauma conditions and performs complex reconstructions.

In his spare time, Curtis likes to be outside exploring the trails and views of the river valley, enjoying Edmonton’s food scene and travelling.

Let’s get to know Curtis a bit better:

What do you like most about your job?

The focus of plastic surgery is on form and function. This leads to a wide variety of cases where we operate on different parts of the body. Working with others at the Stollery to help patients with complex craniofacial conditions (these include craniofacial differences such as craniosynostosis and cleft lip) is one of the great parts of my job.

We also see children and teens with hand, soft tissue and facial trauma. Plastic surgeons often work with other specialists, such as neurosurgeons, oral surgeons and otolaryngologists to plan for complex reconstructions.

Do you have a fravourite Stollery event?

The annual Corus Radiothon always creates a lot of buzz and excitement around the Hospital. It brings attention to the efforts of the Foundation and brings together many people to support the Stollery.

What is your favourite kids’ book?

One of favourite childhood books is The Tale Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. While living in the UK I was able to visit the Lake District in England where the author lived.

Working with others at the Stollery to help patients with complex craniofacial conditions (craniofacial differences such as craniosynostosis and cleft lip) is one of the great parts of my job.
