Monitoring a young heart — on the go
A portable heart monitor is changing lives for Stollery kids with cardiac conditions, thanks to donors like you.
Last year, we turned to our donors for help raising funds to purchase a special piece of cardiology equipment: a Holter monitoring system. And donors like you came through to the beat of $165,000!
The Holter device monitors heart activity like an ECG machine does, but it’s portable! It’s incredibly useful in identifying cardiac problems in school-age children, teenagers and young adults.
The Holter monitoring system was able to support more than 850 patients last year. The cardiac program at the Stollery saw nearly 7,000 patients last year, highlighting how critical it is to have this much-needed equipment on hand and on hearts.
