The Stollery Teen Room is a place for youth ages 12 and up, who are patients or a sibling of a patient, to get away from the busy Hospital environment, if even for a short while. Play video games, play a board game, read, do crafts, use the Internet or just hang. This space helps teens take a mental health break and connect with others who are going through similar situations. The Stollery Teen Room, located at 4E1.02, is open 2 to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Since 2014, Simply Supper’s Junior Lemon Squeezers have spread the lemon love by hosting lemonade stands, rallying their communities and raising funds in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Each year, hundreds of lemonade stands are hosted across Alberta by kids committed to helping kids just like them.

In 2021, Simply Supper dedicated their Lemonade Stand Day fundraising to renovating and enhancing the family room within the Walter C. Mackenzie Stollery site. In recognition of Lemonade Stand Day reaching more than $1 million raised for the Hospital, the space has been officially named in Simply Supper’s honour.

Thank you to Simply Supper, the Junior Planning Committee and kids across Alberta for making this possible!

The Stollery Children’s Hospital School community recognizes that wherever students are, learning inspires, creates hope and joy and encourages a resilient path toward healing and health. The School offers a classroom program and a bedside teaching program, based on each child’s unique needs. This way, students can continue their education at their own pace and keep life as normal as possible while coping with hospital life. The Grade 1 to 6 classroom is located at 4H2.17 and the Grade 7 to 12 classroom is located at 4H2.19.

The first of its kind in Canada, this revolutionary, award-winning program has done significant work in Indigenous communities to build and foster relationships and trust to make sure kids, youth and families receive the care, as well as emotional and spiritual support, they need to feel comfortable and safe within the Hospital.

The Awasisak team (pictured below) is a group of Indigenous staff members who provide culturally sensitive services including support in traditional languages, ceremonial drumming and smudging, as well as a sacred prayer room on-site to support the physical and mental needs of patients and their families. They help families when coming to the Stollery, while in the Hospital and when preparing for the journey home.

By putting patients first, the Awasisak Indigenous Health Program has reduced perceived barriers, marginalization and lack of information at the acute care level, which has improved access to pediatric services.

The Awasisak Indigenous Health Program is located at 4H2.36 and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday to Friday.
